Overview
Salary Range: $59,110 to $98,580 per year.
Position Classification: 12-month/260-day position
Reports To:
Accounting Supervisor and the Director of Finance.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, independently performs confidential and highly complex accounting work related to accounts payable and payroll functions of the District.

- Assist in administering and processing all payrolls for the District, including classified and certified employees, substitutes, supplemental pay, and summer programs.
- Assists in preparing and transmitting Public School and Educational Employee Retirement System reports beginning-of-year information, monthly payroll information, and year-end balancing.
- Assists in preparing and transmitting the federal and state 941 tax returns, St. Louis City earnings tax, and state unemployment wage reporting.
- Assists in balancing and preparing employees' federal, state, and local W-2 tax forms.
- Exercises good judgment in the application and interpretation of rules, regulations and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining the District's accounts payable records, track incoming invoices and open purchase orders.
- Verifies receipt of goods by matching invoices and receiving documents with approved purchase orders.
- Processes invoices, enters them into the system, and generates vendor payments as necessary.
- Assist in the reconciliation of daily deposits.
- Interact effectively with District staff and vendors on financial inquiries and general concerns.
- Researches and resolves problems.
- Maintains confidentiality when working with private material concerning the District or individuals.

- Remains competent and current by attending training and/or courses.
- Contributes to the department's overall success by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Desired
Experience:
A minimum of three years of experience in a payroll and/or accounting position.
Required
Education:
Post-high school training and/or experience in spreadsheets and finance-related work. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Required Skills: Understanding of instructions in written, oral, or diagrammatic form; the ability to handle problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations; the use of math; and reading, writing and conversing at a level commonly associated with an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
