LaSalle Network is partnering with a leading food manufacturing company that is currently hiring for a Food Safety Quality Specialist for their Vermont facility. This role is responsible for supporting and maintaining key food safety, microbiology, and quality programs within a manufacturing environment.
Food Safety & Quality (FSQ) Specialist Responsibilities- Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all food safety standards across the facility.
- Develop, implement, and maintain plant food safety policies and procedures in alignment with corporate guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Support compliance with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards and customer-specific food safety requirements.
- Conduct routine food safety audits, facility inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential areas for improvement.
- Monitor and maintain HACCP plans, including Critical Control Points (CCPs) and Operational Prerequisite Programs (OPrPs), ensuring documentation accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Perform validation and verification activities for CCPs, OPrPs, and allergen control programs.
- Review Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) and sanitation results and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Investigate food safety incidents or quality trends and lead root‑cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
- Maintain documentation and records related to GMP compliance, sanitation activities, and pest management programs.
- Coordinate with pest control vendors to ensure effective pest prevention and monitoring programs.
- Provide food safety training to employees, including GMPs, HACCP principles, sanitation procedures, hygiene practices, and pest management protocols.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and prerequisite food safety programs.
- Partner with production and quality teams to proactively identify and mitigate food safety risks within manufacturing operations.
- Promote and reinforce a strong food safety culture while ensuring ongoing regulatory and internal compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Assurance, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of food safety or quality assurance experience within a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with GFSI-recognized standards such as FSSC 22000, BRC, or SQF.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP principles, GMPs, environmental monitoring programs, and sanitation practices.
- HACCP certification or experience supporting HACCP program development and implementation.
- Working knowledge of food safety regulations, ISO standards, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with ERP systems such as SAP is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively train employees and collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
Pay Range: $115k plus 5% bonus, relocation and sponsorship offered
