Med Surg Registered Nurse, Progressive Care Unit Nights

The RN plans and implements nursing care for patients in the Med Surg Unit, following established policies and procedures, while providing direct patient care for individuals of all age groups in various circumstances.

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current Vermont RN licensure.
• Experience: Preferably at least one year of clinical experience.
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required.

• Reports To: Nurse Manager & Director of PCU
• Other Contacts: Shift administrator, physicians, patients, families, visitors, hospital staff, and other healthcare practitioners.

Utilizes patient monitoring devices, IV pumps, computer, and other care equipment. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs., frequent bending, standing, and walking. Work conditions may involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens, hazards from electrical equipment, and irregular hours.

Provides comprehensive nursing care, including assessment, intervention, evaluation, and communication. Demonstrates critical thinking, organizes workload, advocates for patients, and collaborates with the healthcare team. Incorporates teaching and health promotion into patient care, maintains professionalism, manages conflicts, delegates appropriately, and adheres to ethical standards.
