  • Pay or shift range: $33.00 USD to $47.44 USD.

Description

NMC is currently recruiting an Ultrasonographer. The position is per-diem, variable hours based on the needs of the department, generally variable between 7 am - 5:30 pm with variable weekend and on call coverage. Pre‑Requirements
  • Education:

    Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited program. Bachelors degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is preferred.
  • Certification:
    Active Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification by ARDMS, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer from AIUM, or board eligible. Specialty registration in at least one of the following specialties:
    Abdomen (AB), Breast (BR), Obstetrics (OB), or Vascular Technology (VT) is required within 6 months of hire. Current BLS certification is required.

    Diagnostic Imaging Manager
  • Other Contacts:
    Professional and technological staff, nursing, patients, families, public, hospital staff, students, providers and their staff.
Scope
  • Machinery or Equipment Used:
    Computer, basic office equipment, diagnostic imaging equipment, and patient transport devices.
  • Physical Demands:
    Occasional – sitting, lifting up to 55 lbs., kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching, downward pull and upward push of 50 lbs. Frequent – bending, squatting, stooping, pushing/pulling. Constant – standing & walking.
  • Working Conditions:

    Exposure to electrical, mechanical and radiant energy hazards, possible exposure to blood borne pathogens. Exposure to crisis situations and unpleasant elements of acute traumatic injuries, occasional stress due to workload and competing priorities. Occasional subject to irregular hours.
  • Required Protective Equipment:
    Gloves, gowns, goggles, masks, face shield as situation requires.
Essential Functions
  • Incorporates appropriate assessment and intervention skills in all diagnostic sonography examinations according to American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines.
  • Adapts procedures according to protocol to meet the individual needs of the patient, the provider and the situation.
  • Accurately differentiates between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Communicates with patients, team members, and management in an accurate and timely manner evidenced by: talks with and listens to patients/team members; reports preliminary interpretation with comparative results to the appropriate provider(s); completes timely clinical documentation; uses all electronic systems to appropriately manage the patient experience; protects confidentiality of patient/colleagues.
  • Applies critical thinking skills and considers alternatives; organizes multitask workload; collects/integrates data from multiple sources; organizes/delivers care for multiple priorities.
  • Develops and maintain human care relationships; adapts patient care for diverse populations; advocates for needs of patients; refers concerns/issues to appropriate resources.
  • Manages self and resources effectively; acknowledges limits of experience and capability; identifies learning needs and seeks resources; utilizes equipment and supplies appropriately; maintains clean, orderly environment of care; ensures traffic control in “sensitive areas”; seeks out and accepts feedback; requests assistance appropriately.
  • Applies leadership skills; participates in the peer review process through adherence to performance guidelines and protocols; coordinates workflow among co-workers to maintain adequate coverage for scheduled and non-scheduled exams.
  • Incorporates teaching in delivery of care with a focus on health promotion; provides appropriate information to patient; assesses for barriers to learning; uses colleagues as a learning resource; supports the preceptorship program, student rotations and job shadow experiences.
  • Applies knowledge integration skills for the patient population served within unit; provides age specific care; applies knowledge of expected norms in providing care; applies new data to improve care; integrates technical, psychological, social, intellectual and physical skills.
  • Demonstrates the unit specific skills requisite for unit/patient population served; see department and modality specific competencies.
