The production supervisor's responsibility is to oversee the workflow at our facilities. Supervisors should have a focus on meeting production goals, quality, safety, people leadership, engagement, and cost objectives. The role is a complex one—more than simply overseeing the work of others . A supervisor is also responsible for the coaching and development of employees, resolving issues and escalating as needed, and guiding our team to be successful every shift.
The Supervisor serves as the link between the area team and upper management relaying information and engaging with the overall success of the plant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for performance management of direct reports including - direction setting, accountability, coaching, feedback, performance reviews, development, training, etc.
- Responsible for monitoring the production process utilizing Red Zone and by being on the floor engaging with the area team. Escalating any production issues per the escalation criteria and communicating within a timely manner.
- Plan, organize, and delegate work assignments to accommodate departmental schedules and to best utilize manpower and equipment and thereby meeting OEE efficiencies and striving for continual improvement within department.
- Ensures administrative tasks are completed including interviewing new potential team members, planning & scheduling, safety reporting, kronos, and other system entries.
- Ensure product specifications are met and alerting production manager and quality assurance if product quality is in question immediately. Resolve quality issues through training of personnel and enforcement of standards.
- Leading & Participation in continuous improvement projects within supervised area.
- Attending specified meetings and providing detailed shift handover information.
- A minimum of 3-5 years as front line supervisor in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience in food manufacturing facilities and knowledge of GMP's, HACCP, and sanitation practices is helpful.
