Aviation, Drone and Ground Operations Instructor - CTE Teacher
Saginaw Public Schools Career and Technical Education instructors are responsible for providing high-quality instruction to high school students in classroom and laboratory settings that help students develop the technical skills, safety habits, industry knowledge, and employability skills required for post‑secondary education and careers in aviation, aerospace technology, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and airport ground operations. The Aviation program prepares students for industry certifications and employment pathways through hands‑on technical training, real‑world projects, and partnerships with business and industry.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, and operate technical equipment and computers. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and conduct outdoor instruction. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of equipment. DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES
- 1. Provides career and technical education (CTE) program instruction, program management, and curriculum development
- 2. Develops high-quality lessons and laboratory activities using real-world aviation applications and industry resources
- 3. Prepares students for industry certification and testing (e.g., FAA Part 107 and related credentials)
- 4. Maintains a current advisory committee involving business and industry partners
- 5. Provides leadership involvement with CTSO student organizations and competitions when applicable
- 6. Develops professional and post‑secondary partnerships
- 7. Plans a program of study that meets individual student needs and abilities
- 8. Creates a classroom and lab environment conducive to learning and safety
- 9. Teaches and enforces aviation safety procedures and operational protocols
- 10. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media
- 11. Assesses student progress and provides reports
- 12. Maintains accurate program documentation required by law and district policy
- 13. Coordinates work‑based learning, job shadowing, and field experiences
- 14. Maintains equipment inventory and lab safety procedures
- 15. Communicates with parents and students regarding academic progress and career pathways
- 1. Valid State of Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate with a Vocational/Occupational Endorsement(s) or Authorization in Aeronautics/Aviation/Aerospace Science & Technology (CIP Code 49.0101)
