Summary
14K for 2 years sign on bonus for qualified candidates. Works under the supervision of the Med‑Surg Nurse Manager. The Staff RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care on the nursing unit according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Accepts responsibility for the direction of co‑workers in the implementation of the patient’s plan of care. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- 50% Provides nursing care using the Nursing Process: completes nursing assessment of the patient and documents appropriately in the chart; develops a plan of care based upon the assessment; implements the plan of care and documents in the chart.
- 30% Evaluates patient’s response to care and updates the plan of care.
- 20% Oversees the delegation of specifics of the patient plan of care to unit staff.
- Engages in patient/family teaching as appropriate.
- Maintains professional standards by participating in educational opportunities and performance‑improvement activities.
- Communicates with the health‑care team.
- Adheres to unit/department budgetary practices.
- Displays competency in Microsoft Windows, as My Michigan Health is technology‑driven.
- Participates in further learning opportunities offered by My Michigan Health when required.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Basic Life Support (essential) - TEAM ADVANCED:
Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (essential)
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing (required), Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Specialization in NRG.
- Two years general Medical‑Surgical/Charge Nurse experience required.
- Good basic clinical skills for delivering care in an acute care facility.
- Good interpersonal skills when dealing with patients, families, and co‑workers.
- Exposure to stressful situations, including public contact, trauma, grief, and death.
- Must wear personal protective equipment, including latex or appropriate substitutes.
- Must move freely throughout the facility, with or without assistance, and perform all job functions as outlined.
- Vision and hearing are necessary, with or without assistance.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and postural changes (stooping, kneeling, crouching).
- Exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials; must follow My Michigan Health testing requirements.
- Must handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular attendance, and stay alert.
- Requires dexterity for handling, reaching, grasping, and repetitive movements.
