Registered Nurse RN - Ortho Med/Surg
SummaryUp to 14K sign on bonus for qualified candidates. Works under the supervision of the Med-Surg Nurse Manager. The Staff RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and supervises individual patient care on the nursing unit according to established policies, procedures and guidelines. Accepts responsibility for the direction of co-workers in the implementation of the patients plan of care. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Provides nursing care using the Nursing Process by completing a nursing assessment of patient and documenting appropriately in the patient chart.
- Develops a plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient.
- Implements plan of care and documents in the chart.

* Evaluates patients response to care and updates plan of care. - (30%)
* Oversees the delegation of specifics of the patient plan of care to unit staff. - (20%)*
- Engages in patient/family teaching as appropriate.
- Maintains professional standards by participating in educational opportunities and Performance Improvement activities.
- Communicates with the Health Care Team.
- Adheres to unit/department budgetary practices.
- Technology driven organization competency in Microsoft Windows.
- May be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by My Michigan Health.

Certifications and Licensures- RN:
Registered Nurse - BLS:
Basic Life Support - TEAM ADVANCED:
Techniques for Effective Aggression Mgt
Within 1 month of hire or transfer (Employees who are in this position on or before 8/1/2024 will have 24 months to complete this certification)
Required Education- Associate's degree in Nursing required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Two years general Medical-Surgical/Charge Nurse experience required.
- Good basic clinical skills in delivering care in an acute care facility.
- Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families and co-workers.
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear PPE that includes latex materials or substitute. Must be able to move freely, perform functions outlined. Overall vision and hearing necessary. Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens. Must follow blood borne pathogen and TB testing. Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, regular attendance, stay awake.
