Registered Nurse RN - Medical‑Surgical – My Michigan Health
Summary:
Up to $9,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified candidates. Works under the supervision of the Med‑Surg Nurse Manager. The Staff RN assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and supervises individual patient care on the nursing unit according to established policies, procedures and guidelines. Accepts responsibility for the direction of co‑workers in the implementation of the patient’s plan of care. Performs other duties as assigned.
- 50% Provides nursing care using the Nursing Process: completing nursing assessment and documenting appropriately in the chart. Develops a plan of care based on the assessment and implements it, documenting throughout.
- 30% Evaluates patient’s response to care and updates plan of care.
- 20% Oversees the delegation of specifics of the patient plan of care to unit staff.
- Engages in patient/family teaching as appropriate.
- Maintains professional standards by participating in educational opportunities and Performance Improvement activities.
- Communicates with the Health Care Team.
- Adheres to unit/department budgetary practices.
- Demonstrates competency in Microsoft Windows.
- May participate in further learning opportunities offered by My Michigan Health.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education:
Associate’s degree in nursing required;
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. - Education Specialization:
NRG (essential)
- Experience:
2 years general Medical‑Surgical/Charge Nurse experience required. - Skills:
Good basic clinical skills in delivering care in an acute care facility. - Interpersonal
Skills:
Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families and co‑workers.
Exposure to stressful situations including trauma, grief and death.
Must work with PPE, move freely around the facility, and perform all job functions. Able to stand/walk/stoop and kneel; frequent postural changes required.
Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens; must follow My Michigan Health blood‑borne pathogen and TB testing protocols.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. May occasionally lift or carry 21‑50 lbs.; frequently 20‑34 lbs.; routinely 10 lbs.; must be able to stand for extended periods.
