Mechanical Assembly Technician

Overview

Fives DyAG Corp is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician in the Saginaw, MI area. This is a first shift role.

The Assembly Technician is responsible to perform the majority of assembly operations in building one or more types of units and/or assemblies including standard, special and prototype assemblies.

• Retrieve and study assembly instructions, detailed part prints, assembly layouts and parts lists.
• Build, rebuild, adjust, dismantle, repair, clean, inspect, and assemble equipment; test the equipment and perform electrical hookup as needed.
• Read blueprints and/or electrical schematics.
• Gather parts/units, tools and/or material from inventory using a supplied material list.
• Prepare parts prior to assembly (including small sized unit assembly).
• Follow detailed work instructions for orders or assembly operations.
• Assemble machines/units to current assembly procedures, layouts and parts lists.
• Use small hand tools (taps, reamers, files, etc.) for the assembly process.
• Use power tools, both air and electrically powered for the assembly process.
• Perform machine set-up/verification of customer order specifications by inspection and/or measuring.
• Performs dimensional geometric checkouts of larger units or sub-assemblies on granite.
• Performs proper machine foundation set-ups.
• Perform various installation or assembly work such as:
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Follow safety standards in shop such as wearing safety glasses at all times, using other personal protective equipment when required, and when moving and handling parts using straps, chains, jib and bridge cranes, etc.

• High school Diploma. Associate's Degree or trade school certificate is preferred
• 2+ years of prior mechanical assembly experience building automated machinery
• Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints/schematics including hydraulic prints.
• Basic knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and pipe fitting
• Must be able to operate hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and smaller power tools such as drills and torque wrenches
