Overview
The Quality Specialist will develop, implement, monitor, and maintain the ECC quality improvement program. Quality improvement monitors will be developed based on HFAP recommendations, ENA guidelines, and staff input.
Demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant Health Care and the commitment to providing Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.
Responsibilities- Remains flexible in cooperation with 24-hour staffing patterns and scheduling needs for provision of care in all inpatient units.
- Communicates with patients and families in a professional, therapeutic, and courteous manner.
- Incorporates continuous quality improvement principles in daily activities.
- Focus PDCA based on current HFAP standards.
- Collaborates with ECC Educator to inform staff of current quality indicators.
- Reviews and monitors patients care documentation.
- Analyzes and reports findings to the ECC staff and management.
- Oversees the SWAT team that specializes in infectious disease, emergency management and disaster preparedness. Works with safety officer to provide education to the organization.
- Identifies and tracks trends to evaluate effectiveness of education.
- Develops action plans based on analyzed data.
- Coordinates annual hazmat/disaster training/education for staff. Oversees victim decontamination and incident command for any large-scale events.
- Records and monitors staff completion of mandatory NIMS training.
- Plays an integral role in the ECC/Hospital disaster preparedness program.
- Involvement with charge system data entry.
- Fulfills charge nurse role and staffs ECC as needed.
- Attends unit conferences, in-service programs, and continuing education activities to meet the organization's expectations.
- Other duties as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from NLN accredited school of nursing required.
- Registered Nurse with current licensure in the State of Michigan required.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum of one year of acute care nursing experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Computer competency, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work well with the public and able to be tactful in often hectic and stressful situations.
- Clinical nursing skills.
- Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, and hearing.
- Frequent near vision, midrange vision, far vision, depth perception, visual accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.
- Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
- Occasional lifting 26 lbs. up to 100 lbs. or more.
