Overview

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech Therapist to join our team at Saginaw Township Community Schools. The ideal candidate will work with K-12 students to treat speech and language disorders. This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on the communication skills and overall academic success of students within our community.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech and language disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on students' specific needs and goals.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in both one-on-one and group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor and document students  progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide guidance and training to teachers and staff on strategies to support students with speech and language challenges.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of educational goals for students.
  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student assessments and therapy sessions.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • Shall complete, necessary and appropriate evaluations to support recommendations to IEP Teams relative to eligibility for Special Education.
  • Shall complete, necessary and appropriate case notes to allow completion of required progress notes, and to support retention and or dismissal of Speech Services to the student.
  • Provide necessary direct and/or support instruction as per the student s IEP to improve speech and language skills of students.
  • Participate in a Response to Intervention process as identified by the district of assignment.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
  • Valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
  • Experience working with K-12 students in a school setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of speech and language development and disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and educational staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations regarding special education services.
