Nursing Assistant

Overview

This Patient Care Technician (PCT) works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, performing and assisting with individual activities of daily living and certain treatments for patient care according to established policies, procedures and guidelines. The position requires travel among My Michigan Health subsidiaries.

• Under the direction of the nurse, prioritize and organize care of assigned patients, performing basic nurse’s aide skills.
• Document treatments and observations on the patient’s chart, providing a report to the team on tasks completed.
• Maintain a clean, safe and orderly unit.
• Support the mission, goals, policies and standards of nursing; provide excellent customer service and demonstrate professionalism and courtesy at all times.

• Credential: MMH PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN Certification (internal or state registry as CNA, EMT, LPN, or equivalent).
• Essential: BLS:
  Basic Life Support.
• Essential: TEAM ADVANCED:
  Techniques for Effective Aggression Management within 6 months of hire.
• Essential: Within 3 months of hire or transfer, obtain internal PCT certification if current certification expired.

High school diploma (GENSTUDY specialization).

Exposure to stressful situations, public contact, trauma, grief, death; wear personal protective equipment; move freely with or without an assisted device; sit/stand/walk for long periods; handle multiple tasks independently; physical demand level:
Medium, ability to lift 21-50 lbs as specified.
