Job SummaryMackinaw High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Academic Interventionist to join our team in a full‑time capacity. This role is ideal for an educator who believes in second chances, personalized learning, and building strong relationships that help students thrive. The Academic Interventionist will work closely with students, teachers and families to identify learning gaps, implement targeted interventions, and support students in achieving academic success and graduation goals.
This role is essential in fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes student success and enhances academic performance among at‑risk students.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Valid teaching certification or license in the state of Michigan.
- Experience working with high school students in an educational setting, particularly in intervention or support roles.
- Strong understanding of diverse learning needs and effective instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, and faculty.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions regarding student interventions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and supportive educational environment.
- Familiarity with educational technology and tools to enhance learning and intervention strategies.
- Assess and identify students’ academic needs through data analysis, observations, and standardized testing.
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans tailored to students' specific learning styles and needs.
- Provide direct instruction and support in core academic subjects, including reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate intervention strategies into classroom instruction and to monitor student progress.
- Conduct regular progress monitoring and adjust intervention plans based on student performance and feedback.
- Facilitate small group and one‑on‑one tutoring sessions to reinforce learning objectives.
- Organize and lead workshops for parents and guardians to promote engagement and support for student learning at home.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and intervention effectiveness, providing regular updates to school administration.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in academic intervention and educational strategies.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student motivation and self‑advocacy.

Tuesday - Thursday: 8:30a-4:30p
Friday: 8:00a-3:00p
