The Optometrist will deliver comprehensive eye care services, manage ocular disease, and participate in pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients. This position is ideal for a clinician who values medical optometry, teamwork, and building long-term patient relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive eye examinations
- Diagnose and manage ocular diseases, including:
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Macular degeneration
- Dry eye disease
- Provide pre- and post-operative care in collaboration with ophthalmology
- Prescribe glasses, contact lenses, and therapeutic treatments
- Accurately document patient care in the electronic medical record
- Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, and long-term eye health
- Collaborate closely with technicians, optical staff, and physicians to deliver high-quality patient care
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited optometry school
- Licensed or board-eligible in the state of Michigan
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
- Excellent communication and patient care abilities
- Interest in medical optometry and surgical co-management
- Prior medical or clinical experience preferred but not required
