Seasonal AAU Basketball Coach

CAL Sports Academy is seeking a dedicated individual to join our seasonal AAU Basketball coaching staff. This part‑time role is available for 3‑6 hours per week during practices and tournaments, with the season running from February through the beginning of June. Tryouts occur in January. Candidates should be enthusiastic, experienced, and flexible with nights and weekends.

CAL Sports Academy was founded to provide positive alternative sport programs for adolescents, focusing on instilling leadership qualities and a “can‑do” attitude through sports training. We emphasize integrity, credible sports education, and exceeding expectations, believing in the importance of good role models both on and off the court.

• Plan and execute practice sessions focused on skill development, game strategy, and teamwork while providing personalized feedback to players.
• Prepare athletes for competitive play during tournaments by implementing game strategies and adjustments to maximize team performance.
• Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere to help players reach their full potential while building strong relationships with players, parents, and fellow coaches.
• Maintain positive interactions with parents, coaches, and other staff members, effectively communicating team goals, expectations, and feedback.
• Regularly assess player skills and performance, providing comprehensive assessments and recommendations to players and parents for improvement.
• Assist with marketing efforts to promote CAL Sports Academy programs within the community, engaging with potential players and their families.

• Certification or completion of CPR/First Aid training.
• Completion and maintenance of required clearances to coach children (PA Child Abuse, Criminal Background, FBI), updated annually.
