Job Overview: The Ukrainian Response Caseworker is responsible for providing case management and outreach and education services to Ukrainian nationals or individuals affected by Russia’s invasion in Ukraine. It is a role requiring both expertise and comfortability working with vulnerable populations. Along with providing direct case management services, the caseworker plays a key role in outreach and education by actively engaging with the community to raise awareness of available services, promoting participation in programming, and delivering accurate, culturally relevant information.

The caseworker is expected to be proactive in identifying outreach opportunities, building trust within the community, and ensuring information is accessible to all clients.

Major Responsibilities

60% Outreach and Education

  • Conduct outreach to the UHP community in the greater Sacramento area to encourage participation and increase referrals to our program.
  • Identify and attend outreach opportunities in partnership with community organizations, faith-based groups, and service providers to build visibility and strengthen referral networks.
  • Develop and disseminate educational materials, such as flyers, brochures, and digital content, to promote programs and services.
  • Coordinate and lead community education workshops, informational sessions, and tabling events to promote IRC programs and community resources.
  • Create, plan and implement Cultural Orientation sessions, including topics related to healthcare housing, and home management and consumer education.
  • Regularly review and update Cultural Orientation sessions ensuring they reflect and support current client emerging needs.
  • Communicate and coordinate regularly with colleagues to ensure that services are being delivered effectively, in a timely manner and in accordance with program requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community members and leaders to foster trust and ensure the USS program is meeting local needs.
  • Compile quarterly reports on outreach activities and Cultural Orientation session performance.
40% Case Management

  • Provide comprehensive, client-centered case management services including but not limited to accessing public benefits, housing, mental health services, medical care, school and ESL enrollment, referrals to community service providers, and assistance with booking appointments and scheduling transportation and interpretation.
  • Conduct intake services with clients to assess needs. Develop holistic service plans and timelines in partnership with each client. Provide individualized support through direct services, referrals, and advocacy.
  • Work with IRC staff to ensure client integration and referrals across programming.
  • Maintain case file documentation, including clear and concise case notes.
  • Maintain internal tracking systems and data collection.
  • Assist with reporting on program objectives and accomplishments.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of program requirements.
  • Identify new resources and services in the community, and work to connect clients to available resources.
