Position Information
This position involves providing employability services to eligible applicants of local social service agencies; applying program regulations and procedures; assessing employment potential and barriers; identifying needs for social and health services with referrals; maintaining participant records and generating reports in an automated system; determining eligibility for public assistance programs through interactive interviewing and fact gathering; and performing related duties as required.

Positions- Employment & Training Worker I:
Entry/trainee level with in-service training; as skills develop, greater independence is expected; promotion to Worker II after one year of satisfactory performance. - Employment & Training Worker II
:
Journey level; fully qualified; capable of initiating independent contact with employers and service providers; typically advanced from Worker I or with prior related experience.
The Employment & Training Worker II is distinguished from the Worker III; the Employment & Training Worker Series focuses on employability services rather than provision of social services, different from the Eligibility Worker Series and the Integrated Case Worker Series.
Responsibilities- Interviews and evaluates eligible program participants employability to assist participants in achieving self-sufficient employment.
- Administers and interprets vocational measurement tests.
- Assesses clients employment and education history; identifies skills, abilities and barriers; develops goals and plans; provides career guidance; provides labor market information; and, when appropriate, refers clients to education and training opportunities.
- May refer clients to other services such as substance abuse or domestic violence programs; conducts orientation workshops.
- Reads, comprehends and applies regulations, rules, policies and procedures; explains these to clients and the public.
- Maintains contacts with regional employers and training providers; conducts ongoing research to identify opportunities.
- Completes and processes disbursement of funds for authorized supportive services (e.g., childcare and transportation).
- Operates a computer and automated system to enter and retrieve data, manage cases and generate reports.
- Maintains regular contact with clients to monitor progress toward employment goals and program compliance.
- Documents evidence of non-compliance and follows sanction procedures.
- Performs clerical duties related to organizing, scheduling, filing and case management.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with program participants, staff, and stakeholders.
Positions also responsible for determining eligibility for public assistance programs and may perform additional duties as listed.
