Position Title: Caseworker (Undocumented Unaccompanied Minors Program)

Reports to: Health and SOT Program Director

Classification: Part-time, Non-exempt, Temporary until 6/30/2025 (position may extend if grant is extended)

Salary: $20.67 - $25.83

Opening Doors began in 1993 as a small refugee resettlement agency, and today serves over 4,000 clients per year across our 5 program areas:
Refugee Programs, Survivors of Trafficking Programs, Immigration Legal Services, Health Programs and Economic Prosperity Programs.

The ideal candidate is a licensed and qualified social worker with superior communication skills and who is a tenacious and creative advocate for undocumented unaccompanied minors. This candidate will have the ability to work effectively in multi-cultural work environments, showing respect and sensitivity for cultural differences, and will be passionate about Opening Doors’ mission.

• Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate clinical case management services to undocumented unaccompanied minors (UUM).
• Conduct intake and assessment of UUM clients and develop client-centered plans with the goal of stabilizing needs and providing necessary supports; provide and connect clients with comprehensive and linguistically appropriate services.
• Provide psychoeducation and coping skills to minors and youth.
• Assess the safety and appropriateness of the placement on an ongoing basis using child welfare principles and social work best practices through phone/video calls, interviews, and home visits.
• Maintain a high standard of record-keeping according to program policies and procedures.
• Provide information, education, referrals, outreach, advocacy, and support to ensure that each minor receives the services they require and accompanied minor/family to appointments as needed.
• Coordinate and maintain communication with key stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Immigration Legal Services Attorneys and Legal Assistants, Survivors of Trafficking Caseworkers, and Refugee Resettlement Program as needed.
• Assist with health and mental health related workshops and groups.
• Other duties may be assigned in the sole discretion of the Organization. The Organization may assign or shift duties and responsibilities to this position at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

• Knowledge of trauma-responsive service provision and crisis intervention skills.
• Fluency in Spanish.
• Active listening and capacity to communicate effectively, both verbal and in writing.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment.

• Possession of LCSW certification.
• Experience in child welfare, child placements, family preservation, behavioral health counseling, and social service provision.
• Experience in monitoring and evaluation to assist in grant reporting.
• Effective communication skills in one or more of the following languages:
  Farsi/Dari.

While performing this job, the employee is required to sit often and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, lift approximately 25 pounds on occasion, and to stoop, kneel, or squat, and drive on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
