About This Role

Fiber Tel is looking for an experienced Field Mechanic for our Sacramento, CA location. The Field Mechanic will travel to job sites throughout California, diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and fleet trucks, including skid steers, mini‑excavators, dozers, and related equipment. The role requires proficiency in electrical, engine, hydraulic, and welding work.

Pay: $40–$60 per hour, DOE. A service truck and specialized tools are provided; you must own basic tools.

Position Responsibilities
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy equipment
  • Travel to job sites across California
  • Perform engine repairs and maintenance
  • Conduct safety inspections
  • Repair transmission systems
  • Fix hydraulic and air brakes
  • Maintain HVAC systems
  • Execute electrical repairs
  • Change oil as needed
  • Keep a clean work area, tools, and equipment
Position Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience as a heavy equipment mechanic
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel)
  • Effective communication skills
  • Schedule management and time organization
  • Willingness to travel out of state (60%)
  • Experience with heavy diesel repair and maintenance
  • Experience with hydraulic and electrical repairs
  • Knowledge of fuel systems for diesel and gas engines
  • Electrical diagnostics using a scanner
  • Welding experience
  • Experience with Ford 6.7 Diesel and GM 6.6 Duramax (Preferred)
  • Safety Inspection certification (Preferred)
  • Management experience (Preferred)
  • Class A CDL (Highly Preferred)
  • Diesel mechanic certified (Required)
License / Certification
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • Diesel Mechanic Certification or equivalent experience

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $40.00/Hr. – USD $60.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
