DSUS Technician

Overview

Completes scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair of Baggage Handling Systems and/or Passenger Boarding Bridges; mentors and assigns tasks to assist personnel in the absence of Senior Technicians and Supervisors.

• Completes basic maintenance assignments including preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance, clearing system jams; shift inspections, cleaning, and electrical and mechanical adjustments.
• Diagnoses equipment failures under guidance of senior personnel; ensures equipment is running safely.
• Takes direction and seeks guidance from senior level personnel; accepts training and mentoring.
• Provides direction, guidance, and expertise to personnel assigned to assist in maintenance and repair activities; may act as lead in the absence of Sr. Technicians and/or supervisors.
• Reads and interprets repair manuals, schematics, and supervisor/manager instructions.
• Works in tight and/or high spaces utilizing appropriate PPE and fall protection equipment.
• Follows all company and federally established policies and procedures; completes all applicable training courses assigned by the company.
• Completes forms connected with work assignments according to established procedures.
• Performs additional duties/assignments as required by management.
• Assists with basic maintenance such as sweeping, cleaning, and greasing.
• Completes all safety training as assigned by the Company.
• Compliance with all ELS safety programs, policies, and procedures.

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
• Minimum 2 years of previous mechanical or electrical experience
• Ability to work a non‑traditional schedule including weekends and holidays

• Previous work experience in an Airport environment
• Previous experience working on conveyors and/or passenger boarding bridges
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
• Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in an industrial environment
• HVAC, welding/brazing, and/or plumbing knowledge and skills
• Minimum 2 years of previous basic electrical and/or electronic systems work experience
• 3+ years industrial mechanical and/or electrical background
• Minimum 1 year experience with PLC logic and/or Industrial HVAC certification
• Advanced computer skills

Basic computer knowledge at an intermediate level in Microsoft Windows including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Must obtain and maintain an Airport Security badge
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Company's insurance policy
• Must comply with the ELS Drug and Alcohol policy
• Must be committed to working safely while accomplishing all tasks and promoting a safe work environment at all times

Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, crawl, squat or kneel, bend, lift/carry, push/pull with weights ranging from 10 lbs or less to 51+ lbs as specified. Frequency and percentage of activity requirements are listed in the original description.

Works under the Airport Terminal in conditions that may contain dust, dirt, and continual noise below OSHA's action level.
