BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER
$4,292.00 - $5,145.00 per Month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Under general supervision of the Chief Engineer II, in the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Section, the Building Maintenance Worker (BMW) independently performs a wide variety of miscellaneous semi-skilled work in the maintenance, alteration, and repair of the buildings, grounds, and related facilities found at the California State Lottery (Lottery) headquarters complex, district offices, regional warehouses, etc. As directed, the BMW will assist the Stationary Engineer and the Maintenance Mechanics in routine inspection and repair of the Lottery's buildings plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.
This position requires a current Building Maintenance Worker exam. If you need to take the exam or if your score has expired, to gain list eligibility.
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and is not eligible for telework.

Working Conditionsa.
Schedule:
Core business hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with some flexibility in hours depending on operations. Overtime may be required on nights and weekends, and after-hours call backs.

Daily travel and some overnight travel may be required.
c. Other:
The BMW is issued a cell phone for contact regarding facility issues at all times during work hours. The incumbent will be expected to have the cell phone with them and respond promptly if contacted.

Requirements & Qualifications Desirable QualificationsIn addition to evaluating each candidate's ability as demonstrated by experience, the following factors provide a basis for competitive evaluation:
- Experience with general building systems operations and repairs (plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, etc.).
- Strong mechanical abilities, troubleshooting skills, and ability to anticipate part replacement to maintain functionality.
- Experience with drywall repairs, wall preparation, and painting.
- Experience with operation and use of common hand tools (drills, sanders, saws, pressure washer, electrical meters, etc.).
- Independently motivated and able to work alone as well as with a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
Other qualifications may be required per the classification specification, including background checks and licensing as applicable.
