Field Service Technician

Raymond West is looking for a Field Service Technician to join our service team! The primary objectives of the Service Technician are to provide proficient repair and service of the customer's equipment, maintain good communication and working relationships with customers, peers, and management, represent and sell the entire company, exceed productivity goals, and work within all safety guidelines established by Raymond West and OSHA.

Responsibilities
  • Repair all types of equipment that Raymond West sells and services.
  • Update training and skills on a continuing basis.
  • Train other employees as needed.
  • Maintain a profitable billing level.
  • Follow all Service Department procedures.
  • Communicate with assigned Field Supervisor.
  • Complete all paperwork transactions in a timely, neat, accurate and orderly fashion.
  • Communicate all options to customers before proceeding with work.
  • Have the necessary tools to perform repair and scheduled service work.
  • Complete jobs within quoted time limits when applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly (inside and outside) vehicle.
  • Maintain an accurate assigned parts inventory, if applicable.
  • Always represent the entire company.
  • Pass Raymond Certification and re-certification if applicable.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of customers and equipment in assigned areas.
  • Maintain an acceptable driving record as established by the company’s insurance carrier.
  • Report accidents whether self or customer.
  • Account for 100% of available time during working hours.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
  • Must coordinate all overtime with assigned supervisor.
  • Must follow all procedures in the company’s Employee Handbook.
  • Must follow safety procedures and use good judgment in regard to safety.
  • Must be willing to work out of town as necessary.
  • Establish a positive rapport with customers.
  • Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Service Supervisors or Managers.

Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Excellent organizational time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees, co‑workers, and managers in other departments.
  • Willing to work off‑hours as specific needs dictate and assume more responsibility as required.
  • Functional alertness and safe manner performance.
  • Self‑motivated and time‑management efficiency.
  • Customer‑oriented and professional behavior at all times.
  • Willing to follow mandates and procedures of the Service Department.
  • Ability to deal with customers face‑to‑face.
  • Maintain a sound working relationship with other technicians and fellow workers.
  • Pass all available certificates appropriate to the position.
  • Knowledge of basic DC and AC electricity, internal combustion, and diesel engines.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic arithmetic skills in all units of measure.
  • Application of common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Raymond Level 1 Certified or working toward that goal, if applicable.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable points record.
  • Maintain personally owned tools according to approved minimum tool list.
  • Maintain additional tools as required by duties and certification level.
  • Ability to take direction and be a team player.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical abilities.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
  • Quick learning and accurate performance with flexibility.
  • Motivated for continuous self‑development and training.
  • Willing to assume more responsibility as required.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of breakdown experience or comparable service experience.
Travel Requirement
  • Position based in the field, requiring daily travel within assigned territories.
  • Technicians will be provided a company vehicle and a company Fuel Card.
