Overview
Door and Damper Technician at LSS Life Safety Services®. Responsibilities- Inspect, install and repair fire door frames, doors, locksets, latches, closers, strike plates, and related door hardware to meet NFPA code requirements.
- Fill holes in frames/doors and shim to correct clearances.
- Clean and install closers and hardware to address latching and closing issues.
- Work with metal stud framing and drywall to shore up door frame repairs.
- Establish and execute a plan of action for door replacement across facilities in a time-efficient manner.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Use carpenter hand tools (drill, screws, drivers, tap & die sets, sander, etc.).
- 2+ years of experience working on residential or commercial doors and hardware installation/repair.
- Experience repairing and/or replacing doors.
- Ability to read construction drawings and work self-directed in a facility.
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational/attention to detail skills.
- Ability to use laptop or tablet for progress documentation.
- Self-starter with attention to detail and ability to complete tasks efficiently with limited direction.
- Ability to travel 100% and must have a valid driver’s license; must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must pass drug test and background check; willing to submit to TB test and vaccination requirements as required by customers (MMR, Flu, Varicella, etc.).
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA, ICC, and other codes as they relate to fire and smoke doors, specifically NFPA 80, 105, and 101.
- Experience repairing and/or replacing fire and smoke doors in commercial facilities.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial fire door hardware and components.
- Experience sourcing proper fire-rated door hardware and fire doors to meet code compliance.

Position is year-round and travels 100%: work 10 days and be home 4 days. The company will cover lodging and transportation costs.
