Job Title
Enforcement Air Resources Technician II – Salary: $23.29 - $29.16 per Hour – Permanent Intermittent (up to 1,500 hours annually) –
Location:
Sacramento County – Telework:
Hybrid.
This position supports the Visible Emissions Evaluation (VEE) training and certification team within the Enforcement Division’s Training Section. The technician assists professional staff in statewide training and certification sessions, maintains specialized equipment, audits certification records, and facilitates communication with local air districts and industry personnel.
Responsibilities- Assist with training and certification sessions for U.S. EPA Method 9.
- Maintain and coordinate maintenance of the program’s truck, trailer, and smoke generator.
- Process, maintain, and audit certification records in compliance with Method 9.
- Develop and refine VEE course materials.
- Provide high‑quality customer service and technical assistance to students and stakeholders.
- Travel overnight statewide to conduct training and proctor sessions with up to 120 students.
- Collaborate with local air districts and industry personnel as needed.
- Relevant experience in air quality or environmental science (class specification details).
- Ability to move or transport items up to 40 pounds.
- Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Overnight travel throughout California available.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Enthusiasm, initiative, and strong communication and customer‑service skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Experience operating large vehicles and towing.
- Background in environmental science or policy and knowledge of air‑quality control measures.
- Valid California CDL must be held; CDL number, class, expiration date, and endorsements must be provided at application.
- Participants must comply with the Department of Motor Vehicles Pull Notice Program.
