The Meat Lead reports to the Store Manager and is responsible for the consistent and timely implementation of company meat sales and merchandising programs, maintaining high standards of freshness, quality, and cleanliness during all hours of operation, including weekends.
The role includes training associates, ensuring compliance with inventory and display standards, ordering products, and operating equipment such as saws, grinders, and wrapping machines.

• Provides hands‑on training for associates in product display techniques, production rotation, and proper ordering.
• Assesses the quality of incoming product and follows up with the Meat Merchandising Manager or District Merchandiser if quality does not meet company standards.
• Assesses the condition of in‑store displays/fixtures and follows up when they are not up to standard.
• Sets up the meat case and ensures adherence to company merchandising programs.
• Orders product quantities from various fresh meat vendors based on the company marketing plan, seasonality, customer mix, and historical store performance.
• Operates meat saws, grinders, and wrapping equipment as required.

• At least three years of related store operations experience.

• Successful completion of the S&F Perishables classes (required for internal candidates).

• Retail Management Certificate is desirable.

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

• Ability to write simple correspondence.

• Ability to utilize company‑mandated order guides.

• Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers and associates.

The role requires regular use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; stooping, kneeling, or crouching; walking; climbing or balancing; standing; and occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds. The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious areas, submersion of hands in water, extreme cold, and a moderate noise level.
