The Working Foreman CDL plays a key role in line clearance tree trimming and vegetation management near utility infrastructure. This position combines hands-on field work with leadership responsibilities, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards. The Working Foreman CDL operates in challenging environments, performing climbing and ground operations while supporting and coordinating the work of the crew.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Line Clearance and Vegetation Management:- Perform safe line clearance tree trimming and vegetation management near utility lines and equipment.
- Apply proper pruning techniques for shade trees, ornamentals, and other vegetation types.
- Identify native and introduced tree and shrub species and their characteristics.
- Assist in site preparation, debris management, and cleanup to maintain an organized, safe worksite.
- Set up and dismantle work areas, including protective barriers, signage, and equipment staging.
- Operate chainsaws, pole saws, chippers, and other tools safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report malfunctions promptly.
- Use climbing equipment and bucket trucks according to safety protocols.
- Strictly adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including PPE requirements (helmets, vests, gloves, eye and ear protection).
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or practices and assist in mitigating hazards.
- Work cohesively with the crew to accomplish project objectives.
- Follow directions from the foreperson and communicate effectively to ensure accurate task execution.
- Mentor less experienced crew members in safe and proper techniques.
- Maintain a clean, efficient, and safe work environment.
- Ensure all tools, materials, and equipment are properly stored and secured.
- Minimum of 18 months of verifiable climbing experience in line clearance tree trimming.
- Knowledge of proper pruning practices, tree species, and safety protocols.
- Ability to operate chainsaws, chippers, pole saws, and climbing equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety and ability to enforce safety standards.
- CDL License Required

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Quick learner capable of following instructions accurately.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Physical stamina and dexterity for climbing, lifting, and prolonged outdoor work.
- Prolonged periods of climbing and standing on ladders or elevated platforms.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for extended periods and push/pull up to 70 pounds.
- Capable of working in extreme weather conditions and temperatures.
- Comfortable working near energized power lines and hazardous equipment.
- Primarily field-based with frequent exposure to outdoor conditions and rugged terrain.
- Travel to multiple job sites may be required.
- Hands-on work at heights and in proximity to utility infrastructure.
