Overview
- Lead and manage the GI Services department, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to professional standards.
- Develop and maintain an environment that supports nursing practices and operational excellence.
- Monitor staff performance and quality of procedures within the department.
- Participate in program development and unit performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care outcomes.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare teams to resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and quality improvement processes.
- Provide direct patient care and education as necessary to support departmental needs.
- Promote staff development and satisfaction through effective leadership and resource management.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets and productivity targets effectively.
- Supervise staff, ensuring adherence to standards of care and organizational expectations.
- Implement strategic plans for service needs and resource utilization.
- Evaluate departmental functions and patient service delivery for continuous improvement.
- Ensure services are age-appropriate and meet patient physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs.
- Act as a resource for education and information in areas of expertise.
- Participate in quality improvement processes and regulatory compliance initiatives.
- Document patient care appropriately and ensure adherence to policies.
- Promote respectful and responsive communication between departments to enhance patient-centered care.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of one year supervisory experience in GI services; five years preferred.
- Current California Board of Registered Nursing licensure and CPR certification required.
- ACLS and PALS certifications required within 12 months of hire.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, quality improvement processes, and financial management essential.
- Certified Gastrointestinal Registered Nurse (CGRN) preferred.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and delegate effectively within a healthcare setting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated technical competence and professional clinical judgment.
