Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a current CA RN license and trauma level I experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department serving both adult and pediatric populations
- High-acuity environment with high-volume trauma, psych, sepsis, and stroke cases
- Pediatric cases include approximately 1,000 visits per month and 18-20% admission rate
- No triage, peds resuscitation, or resuscitation room duties for travelers; travelers provide care in fast track, rapid care, MS Tele Psych holding, and ED-ICU areas
- Travelers care for hallway patients and may be assigned patients with PCA pumps, but staff manage the pumps
- Night shifts (3x12 hours), 19:00–07:00
- Uses Cerner EMR; experience required
- OBS Holding unit with 30-40 patients
- No blocked or self-scheduling
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Care for a diverse patient population including trauma, psychiatric, and high-volume admissions
- Rapid care assessment and nurse protocols are in place throughout all areas
- Magnet facility environment
- Must complete non-billable onboarding modules prior to start
- No RTO permitted within the first two weeks of assignment; all RTO must be submitted up front and cannot be changed post-interview
- Return staff must have a minimum one-year gap before being eligible to return as a traveler
- Parking costs are not included
- Team environment with staff support; travelers do not provide intake triage
- Active CA RN license required at time of consideration
- At least 1 year of recent acute care experience required
- Trauma level I experience required; first-time travelers accepted with 2+ years of ER experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- CPI or MAB and BSN preferred
- Cerner EMR charting experience required
- Ability to start and maintain IVs
- Must pass EKG exam within three attempts
