Position: Behavioral Health Admission Nurse (RN)/FULL TIME 12 hours shifts

Sierra Vista Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Admission Nurse (Full-Time) for the Intake Department. If you're passionate about working in a behavioral health setting and want to join a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, we want to hear from you!

Position Summary

The Behavioral Health Admissions Nurse supports the department using established nursing protocols for all possible admissions. Responsibilities include answering inquiry calls, scheduling assessments, performing psychiatric assessments, providing clinical summaries and recommendations, consulting with the psychiatrist, referring individuals to appropriate levels of care, providing community referrals, taking telephone orders from admitting MDs, performing initial medical screening, managing insurance pre‑authorization within 24 hours, maintaining department organization, and cross‑functional training as required.

  • Full‑time 12‑hour shifts
  • 7 pm – 7:30 am (NOC)
  • Required to work Sundays
Education
  • Minimum associate’s degree from an accredited program and an RN license, required
Qualifications
  • Minimum of six (6) months direct medical and clinical experience as a licensed RN, preferably in a psychiatric or mental health setting
  • Direct experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations preferred
  • ER experience with psychiatric patients with demonstrated knowledge acceptable
Licensure & Additional Requirements

Licensure: RN.
CPR Certification required. Complete knowledge of crisis intervention techniques. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
