Job Summary
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the daily planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned patient care areas to provide quality, individualized patient care and support of Medical Center philosophies.
This position will support eight (8) clinics located at the UCDH Midtown location, including:
Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics, Healthy Aging, Convenient Care, Integrative Medicine; and Post Discharge.
The Nurse Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by providing a clinically competent staff; encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in-service and formal education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount.
The Nurse Manager supports research, participates in both long- and short-term strategic planning, and assures patient advocacy. The Nurse Manager is accountable to the Practice Manager and Director of Ambulatory Nursing Practice. The Nurse Manager will collaborate with the Physician Medical Director and Practice Manager on workflows, program development, and patient experience.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position- A valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and a Master’s degree in nursing or other related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree (in a field other than nursing) paired with a Masters of Science degree in Nursing is accepted.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ of nursing management experience required.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience direct patient care nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area.
- Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
- Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area.
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
- Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
- Must pass UCDHS Pharmacology verification exams if needed in job.
- In depth clinic / center patient care management skills. Practice management knowledge in scheduling, customer-service methods, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and / or information technology. Familiar with the policies, best practices, and standards involved with effective clinic / center administration. In-depth knowledge of patient population served and the requirements for the delivery of services.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to foster and promote an environment for effective communication and collaborative decision making across multiple units and disciplines.
- Excellent leadership, fiscal, and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration, and consistent achievement of objectives.
- Strong knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.
- Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments.
