The incumbent is responsible for providing direct health care services for electrophysiology (EP) patients, streamlining and expediting the flow of patients undergoing EP procedures. Care includes evaluation of findings, initiation of treatments, and coordination of admissions and discharges, in accordance with the Standardized Procedures approved by the Mercy General Hospital Committees for Credentials, Interdisciplinary Practice, and Cardiology.

• Enter pre‑post procedure orders
• Facilitate, triage, and consult transfer patients being evaluated for potential procedures
• Collaborate with cardiac electrophysiologists on new consults and existing patient treatment plans
• Receive reports from the electrophysiologist on cases being followed to discharge
• Manage patients with unexpected complications post‑procedure (e.g., hematomas, pressure problems)
• Meet with patients post‑procedure and provide education and counseling as needed
• Complete incision/dressing management
• Perform device interrogations
• Perform EP consults
• Discharge patients from Cardiac Interventional Unit and Cardiac Support Unit (including medication reconciliation) and complete a brief progress note if medications were changed or complications encountered
• Provide program coverage six days a week (Monday through Saturday)

• Current California RN license
• Current California Nurse Practitioner RN license
• Current BLS & ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Master’s degree in nursing and certification as a nurse practitioner
• Current DEA number or pending DEA application; DEA # must be obtained within 3 months of hire

• Experience as an acute care cardiovascular nurse practitioner
