The Sr. LVN is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic goodwill for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. The Sr. LVN provides licensed medical support to medical care providers as a vocational nurse for the department/clinical team to which it is assigned. The Sr. LVN is supervised by a licensed physician or registered nurse when performing duties within the vocational nurse scope of practice.
The Sr. LVN works under the direction of clinic/department management for administrative purposes, including customer service, professional behavior and development, assignment and scheduling of work, and performance of job functions not requiring supervision by a LIP.
- California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Must provide proof of valid Intravenous (IV) Therapy and Blood Withdrawal certification
- Must provide documentation of graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing, or completion of education and experience as a corpsman in the United States military
- Minimum of two (2) years of Licensed Vocational Nurse experience
- Ability to pass the safe to practice pharmacology exam
- Skills within the scope of practice of a licensed vocational nurse
- Knowledge of common medications, indications, dosage ranges, dilutions, side effects, and potential toxicity
- Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, with ability to recognize the abnormal
- Observation skills to detect changes in patient’s condition and potential adverse reactions to treatments
- Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to communicate with patients, health care providers and insurance representatives
- Ability to accurately interpret physician orders to ensure complete and up-to-date patient records
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all co-workers and patients
- Problem solving skills to independently define problems and implement solutions
- Decision making skills to independently exercise delegated authority and seek assistance when needed
- Organizing skills to establish priorities and manage a high volume of patient activity
- Ability to efficiently use computer systems and typing skills for input and documentation
- Writing skills with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Knowledge of clinic practices and protocols related to medical records and nursing support
- Knowledge of laws and guidelines governing medical records and HIPAA
- Basic knowledge of health care insurance systems related to job functions (Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, PPO, etc.)
- At least 2 years recent experience in OB/GYN

Folsom Medical Care Center opened in September 2025. The three-story, 114,000-square-foot building is owned and operated by UC Davis and expands access to high-quality health care for members of the Folsom community. The center offers a wide range of medical services.
