Anti-Trafficking Program Objective:
The IRC’s Anti-Trafficking Program supports survivors of human trafficking with client-centered, trauma-informed, and sustainable solutions tailored to each individual. In Sacramento, IRC will develop capacity to serve trafficking victims (under 18, including foreign-born and domestic, sex and labor trafficking, male, female, non-binary, and 2
SLGBTQI victims) across the Sacramento Area. The program includes community education, outreach, and training to the Sacramento Community. The team provides holistic, wraparound support to survivors, including connections to legal services, housing, transportation, public benefits, health and mental health services, and ongoing safety and service planning. Trainers help ensure a wider network of stakeholders can recognize trafficking indicators and connect survivors to these supports.
Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Training and Outreach Specialist to deliver engaging, trauma-informed presentations that educate communities about human trafficking prevention, identification, and response. This role supports awareness, community capacity, and survivor-centered approaches across multiple sectors. The ideal candidate can effectively engage diverse audiences, from youth and parents to law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
Position Overview
The Training and Outreach Specialist develops and delivers training to community partners, service providers, and other stakeholders on human trafficking, survivor identification, trauma-informed practices, and available resources. The role helps expand the community’s ability to respond appropriately and collaboratively to trafficking situations.
Major Responsibilities- Design, facilitate and deliver public presentations, workshops, and trainings on human trafficking, exploitation dynamics, red flags, trauma responses, and prevention strategies.
- Tailor trainings to diverse audiences, including educators, medical providers, law enforcement, community organizations, multidisciplinary teams, and referral partners.
- Present complex and sensitive content in a trauma-informed, trauma-competent, culturally responsive, non-judgmental, and non-sensationalized manner.
- Educate stakeholders on available services and best practices for working with and supporting survivors and their families.
- Develop and implement a region-wide outreach plan to increase awareness of trafficking survivors’ needs.
- Coordinate with the Anti-Human Trafficking Supervisor regarding outreach planning and travel to sites to meet with potential partners and implement the plan.
- Host and facilitate meetings, activities, speaking engagements, and discussions for community organizations and coalitions; conduct Q&A sessions to reinforce learning.
- Build and expand partnerships with coalition members and providers; collaborate with networks to stay informed and improve best practices for survivors.
- Maintain partner resources and referral systems with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Ensure materials reflect current needs and trends; track attendance and gather feedback to elevate survivor voices.
- Use information gathering to build rapport with the community and invite participation to enhance education effectiveness.
- Contribute to resource and curriculum development, including presentations, guides, and outreach materials; update materials with current research, legislation, and best practices.
