- Hold a valid driver's license and meet ACC Rides' safety standards
- Enjoy meeting new people
At ACC Rides, a small team of staff works hand-in-hand with a dedicated group of volunteers to make a real difference in the lives of Sacramento's seniors. Through our Volunteer Driver Program, we provide safe, reliable, and friendly transportation that helps older adults stay connected, independent, and active.
Volunteering with ACC Rides is more than just giving someone a ride-- It's giving them access to healthcare, community, and a better quality of life.
Make a Direct ImpactAs a Volunteer Driver, you'll provide one-on-one assistance to seniors with mobility challenges. Whether it's getting them to a doctor's appointment, a meal site, a shopping trip, or a social event, your support ensures that older adults can remain active and connected. Every ride makes a meaningful difference.
Flexible CommitmentWe understand that life is busy, so volunteering with ACC Rides is designed to fit your schedule. Some volunteers help several times a week, others once a month, and some whenever they have extra time. Shifts are usually about 4 hours long, but we'll work with your availability.
Drive with ConfidenceYou don't need to use your own vehicle. ACC Rides provides well-maintained, fully insured vans and/or buses for all volunteers. Our vehicles are equipped with safety kits, GPS navigation, and disabled parking placards, so you'll have everything you need to serve our riders with ease and confidence.
Learn and Grow with Free TrainingWe want you to feel supported and confident in your role. That's why we offer free training. Including classes to transporting seniors and persons with disabilities, wheelchair securement, and safe vehicle operation. You'll learn new skills, make new friends as well as gain valuable experience while helping your community.
Join a Welcoming CommunityVolunteering with ACC Rides means becoming part of the ACC family. Our volunteers often say that the friendships they build are just as rewarding as the service itself. You'll meet caring, like-minded people who share a passion for helping others.
