Bakery Operator
Job Description:
The Bakery Operator is responsible for operating various pieces of equipment in production and packaging. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will coordinate a team of Bakery associates to support the production line. You will be trained by a subject matter expert to proficiently run specific equipment and ensure all specifications are followed according to our specification sheets. Your role includes managing proper weights, settings, packaging, quality, speeds, labels, ingredients, and alerting management if any issues compromise product quality.
Safety is paramount, and you will not operate equipment deemed unsafe.
- Ensure adherence to all safety, GMP, and quality policies and regulations.
- Monitor all areas to ensure product quality and compliance with product specifications.
- Assist with training and cross-training as needed.
- Provide break rotations and lunches to employees as necessary.
- Continuously improve knowledge of all products and their production requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness in all areas of responsibility during and after production runs, ensuring proper placement of equipment, raw materials, and waste.
- Monitor finished product quality, aiming to eliminate defects and increase production throughput.
- Communicate actively with other Bakery team members and supervisors to identify and resolve challenges, enhancing operational efficiencies.
- Perform routine safety checks to maintain a risk-free workspace, promoting a safe work environment.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a food manufacturing or related environment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand basic English.
- Familiarity with food processing and packaging equipment.
- High mechanical aptitude demonstrated through prior work experience.
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with GMPs, Food Safety, and Company Safety policies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand machine manuals, SOPs, and production orders.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to work overtime and weekends if needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs continuously throughout the day without assistance.
- Must be able to push/pull up to 50 lbs continuously throughout the day without assistance.
- Must be able to stand for 8–12 hours per shift.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching.
- Must be able to work in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.
- Must wear non-slip (oil/water-rated) safety shoes — steel toe not required.
- Must follow all PPE and GMP guidelines, including no jewelry, no perfumes or cologne, no fake eyelashes or fingernails, and no shorts, spandex, or sweatpants.

Work EnvironmentThis role is situated in a manufacturing, GMP environment that can be very hot and loud. It is a fast‑paced setting where you will experience varied temperatures and noise levels. Ad dress code, including non‑slip shoes, is required.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sacramento, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00–$21.00/hr.
