Overview

R Production Operator II (Open).

Location:

Sacramento, CA (Plant) - Acetylene production & filling.

The Production Operator II will be responsible for safely handling and filling gas products into liquid, medical, and high-pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and meeting the standard operating procedures of Airgas.

Responsibilities
  • Perform various duties in the plant, including monitoring equipment to fill industrial gas mixes, cryogenic gases, and medical gas products, and performing both level 1 & 2 duties.
  • Inspect cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government, Airgas, and distributor standards.
  • Conduct a variety of safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests and checking caps and valves.
  • Analyze products for purity and correct mixtures.
  • Handle high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders. Prepare high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling. Attach to the manifold and evacuate cylinders to eliminate contaminants.
  • Fill cylinders by pressure and weight, per regulations and standards.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of cylinders on and off pallets and tractor trailers. Operate forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Manage paperwork to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards. Complete quality control sheets as required.
  • Understand hazards of various gases, sizes, and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and color-coding of tanks. Accurately label cylinders.
  • Comply with all government and company standards for safely handling hazardous materials/cylinder gases.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly plant appearance.
  • All employees are expected to perform any reasonable work request that falls within the qualifications but not specifically described.
Qualifications
  • Required

    Education:

    HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Required Length & Type of

    Experience:

    Minimum of 1 year of prior experience in related manufacturing operation; filling or loading experience preferred.
  • Strong background in gas, welding, and safety supply industry or chemical industry preferred.
  • Ability to complete training and achieve certifications for filling all cryogenic liquids and pure industrial gases.
  • Ability to complete FDA, Food Grade, and CGMP Training and achieve certifications.
  • Must be able to operate forklift and maintain appropriate forklift certifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure; compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.
