Steel Fabrication Shop Supervisor

The Production Supervisor oversees daily shop floor operations, ensuring the efficient and safe fabrication of structural steel components in accordance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards. This role is responsible for supervising shop personnel, enacting production goals, monitoring workflow, and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity.

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of machine operators, fitters, welders, clean/paint, and shipping/receiving departments.
• Balance multiple project schedules simultaneously to ensure on time production goals.
• Document production tracking through the life-cycle of the project
• Ensure all fabrication is performed in accordance with AISC and AWS standards and project requirements.
• Collaborate with quality control, 3rd party inspectors, and engineering to resolve technical or production-related issues.
• Monitor labor and material usage to reduce waste and optimize efficiency.
• Ensure timely completion of fabrication milestones and on-time delivery of projects to erection crews and clients.

• Minimum 3-5 years in structural steel fabrication, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes.
• Extensive experience with reading and interpreting shop drawings and specifications.
• Comprehensive knowledge and familiarity of AISC and AWS standards is preferred.
• Time management and task prioritization.
• Effective communication with cross-functional teams.
• Computer literacy (basic use of production tracking software and MS Office).
