Operations Manager
A full-service paving and concrete company serving commercial, industrial, municipal, HOA, and institutional clients across Northern California is looking for a Director of Operations who will lead the day-to-day execution of company projects and oversee both asphalt and concrete divisions. This person will manage a large field team and two division managers while ensuring performance, profitability, safety, and customer satisfaction. They’re looking for a strategic, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-moving construction environment who balances operational precision with people-first leadership and knows how to drive growth without losing sight of quality or culture.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee daily operations for all asphalt and concrete projects
- Manage and mentor division managers, project managers, and field crews
- Ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and to high quality standards
- Develop and implement operational systems, processes, and best practices
- Monitor budgets, job costing, and financial performance to maximize profitability
- Partner with leadership to set strategy and align operations with company goals
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors
- Enforce compliance with all safety, regulatory, and environmental standards
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Drive innovation and efficiency across teams and project delivery methods
- 10+ years of experience in construction, paving, or concrete operations
- 5+ years in a senior management or director-level role
- Proven success leading large teams and managing high-volume projects
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, estimating, and project delivery
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
- ERP or project management software a plus
- High school diploma
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business preferred
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience in the paving and concrete industry is required
