Street Level Strategy is a growing team of over 30 members based in Pasadena, CA, with teams in Sacramento and Berkeley, CA. Our clients include political candidates, ballot measures, issue advocacy campaigns, non-profit organizations, and Fortune 500 corporations across the nation.
Position SummaryStreet Level Strategy is implementing a new management software as its principal system for project management, time tracking, budgeting, and financial reporting. This role will lead this implementation and serve as the firm’s coordinator, developing guidelines that ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across all the firm’s systems.
Reporting directly to the CFO and coordinating with the COO, this role will play a critical part in designing and defining SLS’s new management software, with clear structures for projects, budgets, labor tracking, approvals, and reporting. In addition, this role will execute multiple financial operations, including recording financial transactions, preparing invoices, managing AP/AR, and generating financial reports.
This position is ideal for someone who has implemented management systems before, understands how operational decisions affect financial outcomes, and wants to grow into broader financial operations leadership over time.
What You Will Achieve- Define and ensure consistency, efficiency, and scalability across all the firm’s systems
- Establish clear rules for how labor, time, and expenses map to budgets and financial reporting
- Establish and design processes for budgeting to ensure projects have clear and established processes that assist projects on track
- Make and document trade-offs in partnership with the CFO, balancing accuracy, usability, and scalability.
- Guide in conjunction with the COO and CFO, the configuration and rollout of SLS’s management system, Function Point, and ensure Quick Books financial integrity
- Ensure workflows for project setup, time tracking, approvals, budgeting, and reporting are consistent and enforceable.
- Execute on internal decisions for system design, permissions, and governance post-launch.
- Enable real-time visibility into budget vs. actuals, utilization, and project financial health.
- eliminate reliance on spreadsheets, manual reconciliation, and ad hoc workarounds.
- Ensure data integrity so leadership can trust financial and operational reporting.
- Establish, in conjunction with COO and CFO, firmwide standards for how work is structured, tracked, and reviewed.
- Create clear documentation for workflows, definitions, and system rules.
- Enforce consistency while allowing for clearly defined, intentional exceptions.
- Partner with leadership and project managers to drive adoption of new systems and standards.
- Train staff and managers on correct usage and expectations.
- Identify and resolve adoption issues, escalating when necessary to the CFO or COO.
- Build and maintain reporting views that support the CFO, COO, and leadership decision-making.
- Use system data to identify inefficiencies, risks, or improvement opportunities.
- Evolve and adapt the management system as the firm s needs, staffing models, and client work change.
- You have 3 to 5+ years of experience in operations, financial operations, systems implementation, or project-based management within a professional services, agency, or consulting environment.
- You have led or played a central role in implementing a management system( Scoro, Kantata, Big Time, Workamajig), with a preference for using Function Point.
- You understand how time tracking, budgeting, and project delivery intersect—and why system design decisions matter.
- You are confident in executing and implementing decisions made by leadership
- You are comfortable making structural decisions and standing behind them.
- You communicate clearly, document decisions well, and can bring structure without unnecessary bureaucracy.
- You are confident partnering directly with senior leadership and navigating trade-offs.
