general description

the branch manager iii is responsible for fostering a professional and friendly environment that provides an exceptional service experience to members, expanding market share and revenue. Builds, trains, coaches, and leads an engaged team through employee development. Leads overall performance and member service objectives aligned with the company’s mission, vision, and core values. Plans, organizes, directs, implements, and controls all aspects of branch operations, ensuring compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.

Creates a positive branch service culture and partners with other departments to achieve shared objectives.

  • plan, organize, direct, implement, and control all aspects of branch operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • identify community events and potential employee group opportunities and actively participate.
  • coach, develop, and manage staff performance to meet or exceed all service objectives.
  • identify, target, and market the credit union to potential fields of membership.
  • develop and implement branch business and marketing plans.
  • plan, organize, and participate in branch outbound call efforts; ensure follow-up on active member outreach.
  • conduct employment interviews, hire, train, develop, direct, schedule, and evaluate performance of all branch employees.
  • maintain comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance.
  • complete activities associated with human resource processes (appraisals, disciplinary actions, development plans).
  • investigate and respond to members’ concerns.
  • distribute all pertinent information to management and staff through meetings.
  • monitor internal policy and procedural controls to safeguard funds and assets.
  • assist the associate branch manager (or member service specialist iv) to ensure internal processes and controls are established.
  • participate on special and standing committees.
  • provide recommendations on branch employees’ promotions and placements.
  • ensure physical maintenance and appearance of facilities.
  • travel to meetings by car or public transport.
  • perform notary public duties if required.
  • prepare and submit budget justifications; oversee budgetary expenses.
  • occasionally fill in at another branch location.
  • maintain understanding of regulatory requirements and risks, establish control activities, and ensure compliance.
physical skills & abilities
  • effective communication skills (oral and written) to discuss products and resolve member concerns.
  • manual dexterity to operate computers and office equipment.
organizational contacts
  • internal: all levels of management and staff.
  • external: members, vendors, peers in financial institutions, community associations, credit union associations.
qualifications
  • education: bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
  • experience: minimum of three years of progressively responsible management experience in a retail or financial institution.
  • behaviors: flexible employee coaching skills; professional communication; positive demeanor; fosters positive work environment.
  • knowledge & skills: knowledge of california credit union law; business administration; electronic banking equipment; employee motivation; financial concepts and products.
physical requirements
  • frequent movement within branch.
  • normal vision and hearing; hearing aid may be provided.
  • ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • travel by car or public conveyance to attend meetings; out-of-area managers required to travel to sacramento.
  • extended work hours may be required.
licenses & certifications
  • california driver’s license desirable but not essential.
