Health Benefits Manager

Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Health Benefits Manager for an organization located in the Sacramento area
. This role will provide executive-level oversight of key benefits programs – including health, dental, disability, and optional insurance plans. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance across all operations, while serving as the go-to expert on benefit strategy and execution.

• Design and lead long-term benefit strategies aligned with organization goals.
• Oversee annual open enrollment and collaborate with consultants on plan design.
• Monitor industry trends and legislative updates to inform decisions.
• Lead audits to ensure eligibility, accuracy, and timely payments.
• Direct staffing, scheduling, and performance management.
• Serve as a liaison for vendors, carriers, and external stakeholders.
• Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

• 10+ years in group benefits administration, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
• Must have experience in self-funded benefit plans
• Strong knowledge of health, dental, LTD plans, and CalPERS operations.
• Experience with insurance contracts, summary plan descriptions, and state compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and benefits administration systems.
• Strong leadership, team building, and negotiation skills.

The salary range for this position is from $120K to $130K, depending on experience.
