Associate Vice President for Financial Services
The Associate Vice President reports to the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Administration. The incumbent serves as a senior advisor, providing strategic recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer/Vice President on matters related to University-wide objectives, policies, and plans involving accounting, student financial services, purchasing and logistics, and procurement.
The Associate Vice President is responsible for the effective leadership and operational oversight of six distinct departments:
Accounting Services & Auxiliary Accounting;
Accounts Payable & Travel;
Procurement & Contract Services;
Bursar’s Office;
Property & Receiving Services; and the Ticket Office. This role ensures that stewardship, financial integrity, operational security, and regulatory compliance are consistently upheld across all units.
In addition, the Associate Vice President provides oversight of auxiliary financial operations and compliance, ensuring alignment with CSU policies, Title 5 regulations, and Chancellor’s Office directives.
Responsibilities and Requirements- Provide strategic recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer/Vice President on matters related to University-wide objectives, policies, and plans.
- Lead and oversee six distinct departments, ensuring effective leadership and operational oversight.
- Ensure stewardship, financial integrity, operational security, and regulatory compliance across all units.
- Provide oversight of auxiliary financial operations and compliance, ensuring alignment with CSU policies, Title 5 regulations, and Chancellor’s Office directives.
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Business or closely related field; or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional work experience.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience as a senior-level financial manager in a large, complex organization.
- Experience in researching, analyzing and recommending solutions to a range of complex issues.
- Experience as a fiscal agent within a large organization working in highly structured and complex systems.
- Master's or Doctoral Degree in Business Administration or closely related field.
- Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license or equivalent professional certification in accounting or financial management.
- Progressive experience in a senior level financial and management position in an institution of higher education.
