Under the direction of the IT Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist II serves as the Department of Conservation’s Information Security and Privacy Officer (ISPO). In this role, the ISPO provides strategic leadership for DOC’s Enterprise information security and privacy programs, ensuring the protection of mission-critical systems such as WellSTAR, GIS/ArcGIS, permitting and compliance platforms, records/PRA workflows, and M365/Azure services. The position safeguards sensitive geospatial, regulatory, personnel, and public information by driving governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) initiatives;

leading incident and breach response; and overseeing privacy operations under the Information Practices Act and state law. The ISPO embeds “security and privacy by design” into all technology solutions—both on-premises and cloud—and is responsible for DOC’s Enterprise Technology Recovery Plan, ensuring resilience, rapid recovery, and continuous improvement of critical systems in alignment with statewide business continuity and disaster recovery objectives.
