Information Technology Specialist I

Job Description and Duties

Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Supervisor II, the Information Technology Specialist is the technical specialist on multi‑million dollar project proposals submitted by Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) including tribal police agencies connected to CLETS. The role provides interpretations of California and federal laws, as well as the DOJ, CLETS and FBI policies. The specialist provides technical consultation to LEA technical personnel, vendors, executive management, and appropriate DOJ management to identify business and technical security requirements for proposed system modifications.

The position also conducts technical reviews of applications submitted, including hardware and software specifications related to LEA systems, and implementation of mobile technology and cloud computing environments.

Pay Range
  • Range A: $6,513.00 – $8,729.00
  • Range B: $7,163.00 – $9,599.00
  • Range C: $7,864.00 – $10,537.00

New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.

Qualifications
  • Minimum qualifications for the classification (as defined in the official classification guidelines).
  • Additional experience:
    Two years of satisfactory additional experience performing duties equivalent to or higher than an Information Technology Specialist I to qualify for Range

    B.
  • Additional experience:
    Four years of satisfactory additional experience performing duties equivalent to or higher than an Information Technology Specialist I to qualify for Range

    C.

When the requirements for the criteria are met and on recommendation of the appointing power, the employee shall receive a rate under the provisions of California Code of Regulations, title 2, section 599.676. Upon movement to Range C, the employee shall receive a rate under the provisions of California Code of Regulations, title 2, section 599.674.
