Job Description and Duties

The Human Resource Services Branch / Personnel Bureau is seeking applicants with human resource experience who possess strong leadership, analytical, organizational, communication, team building, and detail-oriented skills. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to work in a fast-paced office, and perform multiple tasks with accuracy.

Under the general direction of the Personnel Officer (Manager II), the Classification and Pay (C&P) Section Chief, Supervisor II, serves as a subject matter expert in all areas of classification and pay and provides guidance on and interpretation of various laws, regulations, rules, and serves as a resource for personnel analysts, managers, and supervisors. The Supervisor II provides technical guidance to HR staff while analyzing and determining whether the application of classification and pay actions are in compliance with all California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) and State Personnel Board (SPB) laws, rules, guidelines, policies, and associated government codes.

The incumbent also oversees a variety of special projects designed to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction with CDSS' hiring processes. The incumbent works in close partnership with other staff within the Human Resource Services Branch and the Personnel Bureau on matters of mutual concern and to provide quality customer service to CDSS' programs.
