Associate Director
- Medical Science Liaison (Rheumatology: CA, NV, OR, WA, AK, HI)

Responsibilities
  • Scientific knowledge: Engage in continuous learning to maintain the highest level of technical expertise within the therapeutic area. Respond to diverse medical information needs with unbiased, accurate, up-to-date information requested by customers and establish yourself as a reliable resource.
  • Customer engagement: Spend the majority of time on customer-facing activities. Use emotional intelligence and strategic thinking to deliver a positive customer experience and connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources and external opportunities when appropriate.
  • Territory ownership: Demonstrate strategic analysis, planning, and prioritization to maximize efficiency. Implement and evaluate a strategic territory plan and maintain compliant partnerships across Lilly field roles to create a coordinated customer experience. Utilize territory analytics for customer identification and routing prioritization.
  • Strategic vision and leadership: Synthesize and communicate actionable customer and clinical insights to internal Lilly medical and cross-functional teams. Exercise good judgment, escalate issues as appropriate, cultivate internal networks, and collaborate across functions. Embrace change and use innovative resources to meet evolving business needs.
  • Team Lilly Behaviors: Demonstrate Include, Innovate, Accelerate, and Deliver in everyday work. Contribute to team goals, be an effective teammate, and execute the role in a compliant manner following governing requirements and laws.
Minimum Requirements
  • Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., Pharm

    D, MD, PhD in a medically related field) required with 2–3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience preferred.
  • Or, Master’s or bachelor’s degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) considered if 5+ years of clinical, research, or industry experience in the relevant therapeutic area is present.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide work authorization or sponsorship for this role (including but not limited to F-1 OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, L-1).
Other Information / Additional Preferences
  • Rheumatology therapeutic area experience is strongly preferred.
  • Applicants should live in close proximity to a transport hub (airport/train station).
  • Field-based position requires the ability to travel up to 80% and work 4–6 weekends a year.
  • Intellectual curiosity about the field of science/medicine and the ability to communicate complex content clearly.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently in the field while managing multiple priorities.
  • Advanced presentation and computer skills with expertise in literature identification.
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking to analyze and interpret information and assess relevance to future states.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use field-based electronic or other communication tools.
  • Resilience in managing complex challenges and strong teamwork and interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence.
  • Experience in servicing customer needs for complex information and in professional networking with mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Experience in field-based working environments and familiarity with health systems and medical education processes are valued.
