Job SummaryThis position supports the CDPH’s mission and strategic plan by performing entry-level duties in the Radioactive Materials Licensing (RML) Section, licensing the safe use of radioactive materials and handling related regulatory tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Assist higher level health physicists in developing and applying policies, procedures, regulations, and information technology integration.
- Coordinate and facilitate technical and non-technical training.
- Apply principles of radiation and health physics, radiation control regulations, and policies and procedures to review and perform average difficulty and complexity for radioactive materials license applications for various radioactive materials licenses and sealed source and device registries in accordance with Title 10, 10 CFR and Title 17, C.C.R.
- Prepare information on health physics and engineering regulatory standards and policies applicable to ensure safety of workers, public and environment.
- Assist journey-level Health Physicists with on-site facility inspections.
- Attend both in-state and out-of-state training.
Relevant education in health physics or a related field and the ability to work under supervision of senior health physicists.
