About this Role:

Under the general direction of the Special Projects Unit (SPU) 2 Chief, a Supervisor I, the Analyst II provides technical and analytical support for, and assists with the development and implementation of complex policy recommendations that are consistent with the Department of Health Care Services' (DHCS) core values and are critical to achieving DHCS' mission and vision as they relate to the delivery of quality behavioral health services, including the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) behavioral health initiatives.

The Special Medi-Cal Projects Branch (SMPB) oversees and administers federal Medicaid behavioral health waiver programs and conducts a variety of complex policy and program implementation functions. This position has been advertised as limited term and is expected to last 12 months. This limited term may be extended up to 24 months if supported by workload or may become permanent if workload becomes permanent.

This classification was previously known as the Associate Governmental Program Analyst classification and is now referred to as the Analyst II classification, effective January 1, 2026.
