Job Summary
The incumbent is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic good will for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. This position performs a variety of duties, providing front office support for the department/clinical team for which it is assigned.

Minimum Qualifications- High School / GED equivalent or related work experience
- Customer service or call team environment experience
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all co-workers; consistently interact with patients and other members of the public with patience, courtesy and professionalism, both in person and on the telephone; and effectively respond to individuals who may be angry or upset
- Ability to efficiently use computer system applications for all functions required for this position, including electronic mail, spreadsheets, word processing, and medical office management (e.g. scheduling, template maintenance, maintenance of demographic and insurance information)
- Typing skills sufficient for timely and accurate input
- Writing skills with proper English grammar, spelling and punctuation
- Bookkeeping skills to maintain accurate records of patient financial transactions, prepare related financial reports, balance cash box, and prepare deposits
- Organizing skills to establish priorities and adapt to changes in priorities in a high-volume setting
- Knowledge of medical office procedures (terminology, appointments, medical records, insurance verification, cashiering, billing, etc.)
- Filing skills and knowledge of privacy regulations including HIPAA
- Knowledge of health care insurance systems and related processes (e.g., Medi-Cal, Medi Care, HMO, PPO, etc.)
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding to identify services
- At least two (2) years of customer service and/or call center experience
- Prior medical setting and/or hospital experience
- Experience performing appointment scheduling and patient registration
- Experience with medical insurance verification within a medical environment
- 50% - Coordination of Medical Office Services

The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center's Hematology and Oncology program provides diagnosis and management of all forms of adult and pediatric cancer and blood disorders. Patients have access to an extensive range of clinical trials and management of long-term treatment effects. This position supports a busy inbound call team for the Cancer Center Clinic and handles referral and authorization processing.
